Jess and Andre Walter became Christ followers shortly after their arrival to the States from Germany. At first, giving was difficult for Jess. She managed her money well, and wanted full control on where it would be allocated. Andre, on the other hand, gave very naturally. Together, as they learned more about their faith and what it means to trust God with everything, they began to tithe.

Trusting Him with everything began to truly take shape when they faced one of the most painful moments a young couple can encounter; they were unable to have children. Devastated, they began to embrace the fact that their plans for a family were going to look much different now. Jess leaned into God’s goodness, knowing this did not change who He is. Andre learned all over again that giving to God, whether money or otherwise, would be a very real sacrifice.

When the ALL IN campaign began, they felt certain that they were doing just fine in this area. They were giving well beyond the tithe at this point, serving regularly and leading in various areas. But as they reviewed the budget sheet, one line stood out; “Baby Fund.”

The remnant of their future plans and last glimmer of their hope, it would now likely be used in an emergency, or should they adopt. They decided to release this fund – their control – back to God and go ALL IN with Him. They knew He could provide far better than any portion of their budget ever could.

They experienced an immediate peace, and even joy. They believed they were experiencing the true feeling of freedom in Christ, knowing that they had transferred the weight of a circumstance from themselves over to the only One that could carry it.

Though their ALL IN commitment involved a tangible step, the greater step was taken in their hearts, through their expression of greater trust in God. Andre and Jess have not only struggled with the issue of infertility, but also with their work and living situation. Though they do not feel they have reached the summit of their journey, they believe they are on the right path; allowing themselves to be completely guided by God and investing however they can, wherever they are… they want to be ALL IN.
